Lori Husein, CPA
Senior Advisor
Lori Husein is a senior advisor focused on higher education and strategic consulting, bringing extensive experience in guiding institutions in financial leadership, organizational strategy, mergers and acquisitions, and operational excellence. She has a long and distinguished career spanning senior executive roles across multiple institutions.
Prior to her work in higher education, Lori held senior-level positions in start-up companies and was a consultant with Deloitte & Touche LLP for 12 years. She has a strong track record of using consensus building to help organizations find solutions for financial and operational challenges and is known as a mission-oriented leader. Lori has held several senior leadership positions in higher education, including serving as associate chancellor of finance at the University of California, Irvine; vice president of Finance and Administration at Sweet Briar College; vice president of Finance and Administration and treasurer of the Claremont Colleges Consortium; and university vice president and controller of Loyola Marymount University. Most recently, she served as chief financial officer at the California Institute of the Arts, from which she is now retiring.
In her work, Lori has partnered closely with executives, boards, and stakeholders to align institutional strategy with operational and financial planning, drive organizational effectiveness, and support mission-critical initiatives. Her consulting experience and senior leadership perspective make her a trusted advisor in executive search and strategic planning processes, particularly in higher education contexts.
Lori earned her BA in Economics and Accounting at Claremont McKenna College and is a Certified Public Accountant (CPA). She is a member of the California Society of CPAs, the American Institute of CPAs, and the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO).
